The WDHA Purebred and Partbred Futurity consists of two divisions:  The Breeder's Halter Division and the Breeder's Performance Division

FUTURITY RULES

  1. All entries must be eligible for registration with the Arabian Horse Registry of America, Inc., as a Purebred or Half Arabian.
  2. Any number of horses may be nominated by the same breeder.
  3. The owner(s) of the nominated horse(s) must be members of the Wisconsin Desert Horse Association.
  4. Horses originally nominated by a WDHA member and subsequently sold are eligible to remain in the Futurity provided the new owner is a member of WDHA or joins prior to the show for the year to be shown.  All penalty and regular fees must be paid prior to the show.
  5. The futurity classes will he held in conjunction with a WDHA sponsored show.
  6. Mares must be nominated and the nomination fee must be paid on or before December 31 of the year prior to foaling to be eligible to continue in the halter and performance divisions without penalty.
  7. Horses entered as Original Mare Nominations are eligible to: (I) pay a fee and participate in the Breeder's Halter Division; (2) pay a fee and participate in the Breeder's Performance Division, or, (3) pay both fees and be eligible to participate in both divisions.
  8. Once a horse has been nominated, there is to be no substitution or refund.
  9. Pay notices are sent only as a courtesy.  Horses on which payments have been made will be listed and made available to the membership.
  10. Registration certificates are required for all futurity entrants prior to issuance of a show number for Futurity classes.
  11. Official post office postmarks will determine eligibility or acceptance of nominations and renominations received after the due date; payment dates falling on a Sunday or holiday will be extended to the following day.
  12. Nominations must be on an official WDHA Futurity application blank.
  13. All late nomination fees are indicated on the nomination/renomination form.  Late nominations entered prior to the entry deadline for the futurity show may show in the same year as entry.  The entry deadline is, show year, August 15.

TRANSFERS

  1. Futurity participation may be transferred and continued on a previously nominated horse to a new owner.  New owners are responsible for informing the Futurity Secretary of the ownership change and meeting nomination deadlines.
  2. WDHA Futurity will not be responsible for any dispute arriving through ownership changes.

HALTER DIVISION

  1. 1. Properly nominated horses are eligible to compete as weanlings, yearlings, two-year olds, and three-year olds. Purebred weanlings compete in two Jackpot classes split by sex, and Half Arabian weanling colts and fillies show against each other. Purebred yearlings, two-year olds, and three-year olds compete against their age groups in same sex classes: fillies, colts, and geldings. Half Arabian yearlings, two-year olds, and three-year olds of both sexes compete against their age groups in saddle type or stock type classes.

PERFORMANCE DIVISION

  1. Open to properly nominated and sustained three, four, and five-year olds.
  2. Performance Futurity classes will be offered in four divisions: Saddleseat Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, and Pleasure Driving.  Cross entries are acceptable and encouraged between performance divisions.
  3. Except as noted, this Performance Futurity will be judged in accordance with the specifications set forth in the AHSA Rule Book for Junior Horses.  Proper show attire according to AHSA rules will be required.
  4. 3 Year Old Classes Only - To be shown at the walk, trot, and canter or lope only (no hand gallop) both ways of the ring. To be judged on suitability, potential, and performance. Shoeing - as allowed by AHA and USEF rules. Equipment - any combination of straight reined snaffle bridle, hackamore, or bosal. Shin boots, splint boots, polo wraps, and non-weighted bell boots are acceptable. Martingales and draw reins are allowed.

DRIVING DIVISION

  1. Four and Five-year-old Performance Futurity horses to be shown with appointments and gaits as defined in the Junior Pleasure Driving Performance class of the Arabian Division of AHSA.  Headers required. See special rules for Three-year-olds above
  2. To be shown at a walk, normal trot, strong trot (Extreme speed to be penalized).  To stand quietly and back readily.  To be judged on quality, manners, and performance.
  3. Horses entered in the WDHA Futurity Driving Division may cross enter into either English Pleasure Driving or Country English Pleasure Driving classes at the same show--but may not enter both.

SADDLESEAT DIVISION

  1. 1. Four and Five-year-old Performance Futurity horses to be shown with appointments and gaits as defined in the Junior English Pleasure Performance class of the Arabian Division of AHSA. See special rules for Three-year-olds above.
  2. To be shown at a walk, normal trot, and canter.  To be shown in a light, show type bridle; either single curb or single snaffle (defined as an unwrapped, smooth, rounded snaffle bit 3/8" to 3/4" diameter as measured one inch from the ring with gradual decrease to the center of the snaffle, half cheeks permitted) curb and snaffle, or Pelham bit.  To be judged on quality, performance, attitude, and manners.
  3. Horses entered in the WDHA Saddleseat Division may cross enter into either English Pleasure classes or Country English Pleasure classes at the same show--but may not enter both.

WESTERN DIVISION

  1. 1. Four and Five-year old Performance Futurity to be shown with appointments and gaits as defined in the junior Western Pleasure Performance class of the Arabian Division of AHSA. See special rules for Three-year-olds above.
  2. To be shown at a walk, jog-trot, and lope.  To be shown in a snaffle bit or hackamore.  To be judged substance, quality, performance, and manners.

HUNTER DIVISION

  1. 1. Four and Five-year-old Performance Futurity to be shown with appointments and gaits as defined in the Junior Hunter Pleasure performance class of the Arabian Division of AHSA. See special rules for Three-year-olds above.
  2. To be shown at a walk, trot, canter, and hand gallop both directions of the ring.  To stand quietly and back readily.  To be judged on quality, performance, suitability as a Hunter, manners, and conformation.

AWARDS

  1. The original nomination fee for the Halter Division will be split nine ways and will be added to the purse of each class the unborn foal is eligible to show in as a yearling, two-year old, or three-year old.  Weanling classes are jackpotted classes only.  Should a foal be entered late, the fee will be divided into the remaining classes for which the foal is eligible.
  2. The original nomination and first sustaining payments for the Performance Futurity will be divided eight ways.  The other renomination and entry fees will go only into those classes that the foal is eligible to show in.
  3. In all divisions the prize money will be divided according to the number of horses shown. The cost of the trophies, ribbons, and any related expenses may be ducted.  Money distribution percentages are as follows:
One horse - l00%
Two horses - 60%, 40%
Three horses - 50%, 30%, 20%              
Four horses - 40%, 30%, 20%, 10%
Five or more - 35%, 25%, 20%, 12 .5%, 7.5%
Six Weanlings - 33%, 23%, 18%, 13%, 8%, 5%

The show results and monies will be filed with the WDHA Club Secretary by the Futurity Secretary and made available to the membership.
